Children And Families Community Worker, Sale West, Trafford
Do you have experience of working with children and families in an area of need? Are you enthusiastic, a good networker, and able to use your own initiative and creativity?
Sale West Community Urban Trust would like to employ a half-time Children and Families Community Worker, to work in Sale West. The role of this post would be to work with local people and partners to provide activities, resources and learning opportunities for children, parents and carers, to help their physical, mental and economic wellbeing. The post-holder would be an advocate for children, and their families. You will work closely with all the partners involved in the Sale West and Ashton Partnership, including the Children’s Centre, the Police, the Probation services, Social services, the Health visitors, the Health Improvement services, Irwell Valley and Trafford Housing, the Youth services, the local schools, the local churches and local volunteers and community groups.
The post-holder will take an assets based approach, building on the aspirations, skills and gifts found within the families on the estate, and working to unleash their potential. You will work with local families to develop ideas for activities, events, and learning opportunities which they would like to be involved in, and help to turn these ideas into reality, using the resources and skills of local partners, alongside the skills of local people.
Families which could benefit from the support of this worker would be identified through referral from a number of different partners and agencies. For example, the post-holder would link with current alcohol services in Trafford and support families from the Sale West area that are accessing these services. Furthermore, you will link in with the 20 complex families initiative running within the Local Authority.
