Children & Young People’s Enablement Officer – Oldham

Salary: £10.10 per hour/£18,382 per annum
Hours per week: 35 hours per week/52 weeks per year
Contract Type: 3 years fixed term contract
Based: Oldham Civic Centre

This is a unique opportunity to join Henshaws as part of an new and exciting three year funded project, with thanks to the support of Stoller Charitable Trust and a legacy left to Sight Support Oldham.

Supporting sight impaired and severely sight impaired children and young people and their families, you will sit within Oldham’s Sensory Education Team but be managed by Henshaws, creating a new and unique partnership.

The role will be two fold in that you will provide family support and early help as well as develop and deliver a new service promoting an awareness of eye health and prevention for local schools, supporting Vision 2020 and the UK Vision Strategy’s aim that ‘Everyone in the UK looks after their eyes and their sight’. You will develop relationships with external agencies to continually develop this new service which will allow Henshaws to go deliver our Pathway to Independence and go beyond expectations for CYP and their families across Oldham.

In order to deliver the above project, we are looking to recruit an Enablement Officer with experience of working and supporting young people aged up to 18 years old or experience of working with parents, families and carers in group activities or one to one. You will be able to communicate effectively at all levels, have brilliant time management skills and understand the need for confidentiality.
