Asset Transfer - The Open Lock Project - Narrowboats

Trafford Council are in the process of distributing equipment once held within the Youth Service – Open Lock Project to local community groups so that young people in Trafford can continue to make use of them.

The initial transfer will be for the Narrowboats and ancillary equipment and bids will be accepted for both craft or for individual craft if required.

We are looking to receive expressions of interest for this package from providers who deliver services to young people aged 11-18 years, across the Borough of Trafford and share our objectives towards strengthening communities and supporting the outcomes outlined in the Trafford Early Help Strategy.

The attached forms give details about the equipment and the terms and conditions of the asset transfer.

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate that they have the relevant financial backing, insurance and where applicable qualifications, licenses, knowledge and skills to make best and safe use of the assets.

The initial transfer will be for a 3 year period and an annual report of the use of the equipment will be expected as part of the terms and conditions.

If this is seen as satisfactory the equipment will then become the property of the community group as outlined in the Terms and Conditions.

To allow viewing of the narrowboats an Open Day is being held on Monday 3/4/17 at the Kings Ransom canal side where both boats can be viewed and the current narrowboat skippers will be able to ask questions about the equipment.

Please note that parking at the Kings Ransom is pay and display – alternative parking is available elsewhere in Sale.

Community groups can express an interest in the items by completing application forms, from Steve Berry off the telephone number below, which needs to be returned by Tuesday 18th April at 12 noon.

Any applications received after this time will not be considered.

Please forward this information on to any Trafford groups who you feel could make positive use of the equipment.
