Laughter Festival
This is a non profit community led festival for health, happiness, managing stresses and community building.
The conference will be wonderful, and the laughing championships will be amazing! And because it is a community event, the aim is to get as many people and community groups as possible involved.
Most events are free, but the conference and championships have an entrance fee which can be reduced for community groups.
There is also an interfaith intercommunity laughter session at St Clements, Chorlton, on the evening of the 21st, and a laugh at The Triangle on the same day to set a world laughter relay record .
So please spread the word!
THE WORLD'S FIRST EVER LAUGHTER FESTIVAL WILL TAKE PLACE THIS JUNE IN MANCHESTER.
While there are many festivals devoted to comedy and humour, this is the first festival devoted to the art and science of laughing itself. It will feature demonstrations of laughter yoga, laughter therapy, a day or laughing and learning, and the first ever UK Laughing Championships http://www.uklaugh.org/index.html .
COMMUNITY CONFERENCE:
The community conference day is Friday 22nd June. It will be a day of laughing and learning. Our focus is on how we can use laughter ourselves and within our communities to help promote better health, happiness, stress management techniques and community spirit. http://www.uklaugh.org/conference.html
CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The UK National Laughter Championships will take place on 23rd June before the Olympic torch arrives in Manchester. Running from 2-4pm at The Comedy Store Manchester, there will be lots of laughter and community spirit as some of the most contagious laughers in the UK compete in a series of laughter feats, tested by their contagiousness on an audience. Laughter contests are a trend which began last year in Canada, and have now spread to over a dozen countries including Japan and Austria. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZj1saVViEo
PLEASE COME ALONG and PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
The festival is community based and non-profit, with aims to show people why laughter is the best medicine. Some events are free (see http://www.uklaugh.org/DailySchedule.html ), while there are special rates for community groups for the conference and championships! Please contact me for details.
