VCAT Membership

VCAT Membership is open to anyone working for the benefit of the community of Trafford and the surrounding area, including:

  • Voluntary, community and faith organisations
  • Individuals
  • Statutory sector service departments
  • Private sector individuals

Organisations are not eligible for membership if they are party political in their aims and objectives, or, are by constitution or practice, opposed to the values of VCAT and its equal opportunities policies.

Membership is FREE and is graded according to the level or service we provide:

  • Full member
  • Associate member
  • Database member

Organisational Advice & Information
Constitutional, management, finance, marketing, fund-raising, signposting, starting new groups, local issues.

VCAT News & E-bulletins
We publish a newsletter six times a year, and an e-bulletin every month - full of information and news on funding and resources, legislation, practical help and local issues.

Statutory Consultation
VCAT represents the collective interests of Trafford’s Voluntary and Community Sector in a variety of Public Sector partnerships.

Greater Manchester Funding Portal
VCAT supports groups to search for funding using the Greater Manchester Funding Portal at www.gmfunding.net

Training
Members are entitled to FREE or heavily discounted places on a wide variety of training delivered across Trafford.

Networking
VCAT offers a range of events and meetings for groups working in related fields across Trafford. These meetings feature presentations from partner organisations and contribute to the development of services and activities within Trafford

Meeting Rooms
Members can book meeting and training rooms at Park House at a reduced rate. Screens, projectors and flipcharts can also be hired

Influence
Full members have the right to influence the policy and running of VCAT and to attend and vote at our AGM.

Promotion
Members can advertise their activities and vacancies for FREE through VCAT.

Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO)
VCAT members can also tap into the networks, projects, training and resources available at Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO).

As the sub-regional support organisation for Greater Manchester’s voluntary sector, GMCVO’s work complements that of VCAT, providing a range of specialist services such as accredited management training, partnership development, support for community enterprise and hubs, research, and database development.
GMCVO is also the lead body for Volunteering Greater Manchester and the Greater Manchester Voluntary Sector Support partnership (of which VCAT is a member) and is the hub for Converge – the wellbeing consortium for Greater Manchester.

GMCVO also manages the St Thomas Centre – a popular venue for voluntary sector conferences and other meetings.

Membership of GMCVO is free – and full members receive discounts on some services such as room hire in the St Thomas Centre.
