    The public are being invited to find out more about Trafford’s hospitals and to enjoy behind-the-scenes tours on Tuesday 27 September. Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs the borough’s hospitals, has organised an afternoon of events including hospital tours and a tea party as part of its Annual General Meeting. It all begins at 1.30pm in the Boardroom at Trafford General Hospital.

    The Institute for Volunteering Research has produced 'The flawed third principle of volunteering', which looks behind assumptions of the benefit arising from all volunteering. The paper argues that this is a key weakness in definitions of volunteering based on the three principles of it being unpaid, uncoerced and of benefit.

    The Edgar E Lawley Foundation current annual grants programme amounts to approximately £250,000 per annum with a typical grant being in the region of £1,200 to £2,000. The Foundation supports six broad areas including children and young people. Deadline 31 October.

     The Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme provides one-off donations of between £500 and £4,000. The funding goes towards providing practical benefits, such as equipment and resources for projects that directly benefit children, the elderly and adults and children with disabilities, living in the local communities around Tesco stores in the UK.
